Top 10 phones of 2006 released

Wirefly, one of the largest online wireless retailers recently released a list of their best selling phones. Incidentally they have some of the best deals I've found on the web.

And the winners are:
  1. Cingular Motorola RAZR V3
  2. T-Mobile Motorola RAZR V3
  3. Verizon Motorola RAZR V3
  4. Cingular Sony Ericsson z520a/z525a video phones
  5. T-Mobile Motorola v360
  6. Verizon Wireless Motorola v276
  7. Sprint Nextel Motorola i850
  8. Sprint Nextel Motorola i710
  9. Cingular Motorola v220
  10. T-Mobile Samsung T309
So the RAZR was the unabashed winner for 2006. I don't see the hotness of it as others do, but the consumer has spoken. 2007 shall be an interesting year. The RAZR is getting a little tired now. There will be new variations to milk it from Motorola. I don't expect any of them to be the top sellers for 2007. I'll look back at this post in 2008 and see if I'm wrong. Samsung and company have taken the anorexic phone to the next level. One thing is for sure, thin is in. Thin PDA phones, thin camera phones, just thin. I think someone should comeout with a phone and call it that - "The Thin Phone from _______" Maybe stylize the name by taking out the vowels... The Motorola THN or the Moto NRXC.

I like form, but I've gotten used to the bulk of my Treo 650. Ergo I have no problem saying that my current wishlist phone is the HTC TyTN. Check it out at phonescoop.com (one of my favorite sites by the way). 2007 should see an expansion of the smartphone marketl penetrating deeper into the consumer market. I got mine for work purposes, but in all honesty I don't think I can do without anymore.

My predictions for 2007:
  1. Smart/PDA phones will see a rapid expansion into the consumer market driven by sleek designs. Consumers will be even more lost as to how to use their phones.
  2. Slim will become standard and not a fashion statement.
  3. iPhone will be the most talked about phone regardless of any other phone save for a UFO dropping off a phone on the White House.
Technology - You can't stop it.
